SuRIA Home rebate: how to claim up to RM3,000 before 31 December

Who qualifies, how the rebate is calculated, and the deadline that matters most.

Technician installing a solar panel on a rooftop

SuRIA Home (Sustainable Rebate & Incentive Assistance) is a one-time government cash rebate for homeowners who install rooftop solar under Solar ATAP. It was announced by the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA) on 22 May 2026.

How much can you get?

The rebate is RM600 for every 1 kWac of installed capacity, up to a maximum of RM3,000. A 5 kWac system reaches the full amount; larger systems are still capped at RM3,000.

The deadline that matters

Your system must be commissioned by 31 December 2026, or before the rebate allocation runs out, whichever comes first. It's first-come, first-served.

Budget 2027, tabled on 9 October 2026, did not announce an extension of SuRIA Home, so plan around the 31 December 2026 deadline.

The key word is commissioned, not "signed up". Your system has to be installed, approved and switched on with TNB before the deadline. Approvals and meter installation take time, so starting in December is likely too late.

How you receive it

TNB contacts eligible customers by their TNB-registered email and asks for bank account details. The rebate is then paid into that account. Make sure the email on your TNB account is up to date.

Is the rebate a reason to go solar?

It helps, but it shouldn't be the only reason. RM3,000 is a welcome discount on a system that will run for 25 years. The bigger value is the monthly savings over that whole period, so get the system size and installer right first.
